8th & Main - Moorhead, MN

8th and Main is a new mixed-use building located at the southeast corner of 8th St. S. and Main Ave. in Moorhead, MN. The building will consist of two floors of commercial/retail businesses and two floors of apartments with both an underground and outdoor parking lot. The owner was able to obtain an easement onto the neighboring property to the south in return for a shared parking lot. The existing site contained three power poles with an overhead electric line. Through the design process, we were able to work with the city electric company on relocating these poles and installing the lines underground. No underground storm sewer was required on the project. All storm water will surface drain into the adjacent street curb and gutter. A unique feature of this site is that it was formerly home to a fueling station. Soil remediation will take place during construction to remove any possibly contaminated soils. Construction started in the fall of 2017, and it is expected to be completed during the summer of 2018.
